in a way, it is about the misunderstanding of blogs, and the lack of research done by the mainstream tv programme producers. yet, it also tells how our society (hong Kong) sees technology, or computing tools and youth cutlure. i mean the event also tells what hong kong is in a way, but throught what they did (so badly) but the ways they did and the ways of thinking they have.

i think it is very interesting to view that way. in their discourse, technology has to be reduced to something “useful” like how social workers would help to solve the “problems.” the use of technology is viewed as something “practical” as any tool for teachers, social workers, parents to “fix” problems of the youth. like the absurdity of the original sin, technology becomes the stupid magic of prayers to “solve” problems and save us from something that we never never commit wrong.

for me, blogs is diary, IT SIMPLY IS. YET, we should view them in a different way, and use them in a different way. what i mean is the problem of the tv programme is not about blog is just dairy, but how they define dairy.

it could be dairy, and yet also political criticism, or cultural observations, or creative writings and other art form ( i am working on my sound blog, which is sound art project). IT IS diary but it functions differently. and it could be not just diary when people “gather” together, it forms political ground for empowering, and for request for changes, though i still think the most important thing about blog is from the very personal to write upon our society and the world, basically auto-ethnographic.

所謂blog，是一個發佈平台，但要怎樣用它是其主人的自由。就我個人眼見，香港的潮流是網上日記那一類。不過以我個人的觀念，日記是私人的、不會讓其他人看到的，因為那是收藏我內心世界最深處的一些思想或感情。我會在那裡，把我平時不會對人說但我又想說的東西，記錄在內，讓它們不致被我遺忘。可現在流行的，卻是把日記公開。但其內容及深度，我相信一定不及以往年代的「日記」。因為，公開的東西，一定有所保留；而一個只記一個人的日常生活瑣事而又有所保留的地方。如果這些真是日記的話，恕我直言，又會「精彩」到那裡去? (我承認，我是八卦的 XD)

不過，我並不否定網上日記。始終，在不傷害人的前提下，每個人都可以選擇自己的表達或表現方式。我想，不是每一個年青人(甚至成年人)也有著一些不知所以的深度內涵經歷去修飾自己(笑)。讓他們用這種方式去表達自己，也許更有助他們與人溝通，甚至練習一下寫作技巧呢。 ~__~

但要令blog 這種東西在本地發揚光大、脫離只是網上日記這個區域，我相信，不是短期內說可便可的事。那需要的是，大家的努力與醒覺。
